When you look for an apartment you need to ask a lot of questions because not all apartments are the same.
Some apartments are furnished and some aren't, even those which aren't will usually have a stove and a
refrigerator or will sometimes rent you a refrigerator if they don't supply one. If the complex has a pool,
gym, volleyball court, or any other community facility on it's property, any renter may use it. Apartments
will pay for some utilities, usually water, trash, sewer and sometimes gas. You will need to pay for electricity,
telephone and cable.
While you can rent an apartment month by month, most places have written in the contract that you must live
there 6 months to a year. Some information that you will need to provide to the manager to rent an apartment
are your passport, another form of identification, (managers will usually ask for a social security card, but
any form of legal identification will do), and some sort of financial guarantee.
The fees for renting an apartment will usually include: $30 dollars for a credit report, in some circumstances
$100 holding fee and first months rent and security deposit, (sometimes this is called first and last months rent),
totaling no more then twice your monthly rent.
