The Director leads the University's Office of International Students and is Co-Director of the International Institute, housed in the University Hall Building 235. IC and the International Institute form a collaborative center involving all colleges and departments and other state, national, and international partners. Its purpose is to provide a coordinated, university-wide response to the international education needs of students, international scholars, government agencies, and the community. Toward that end IC and the International Institute work closely with institutions on a variety of international education initiatives, including staff development, curriculum development, and other programming such as the international lecture series, Fulbright, study abroad workshops and a quarterly Newsletter. The primary continuing activities include management of programs for international students, study abroad, visiting scholars, and development of programs, conferences, and workshops, administration of grants, international round tables, study abroad fairs, and coordination of an inventory of the CSUSB's international education capacity. Elsa develops programs and works with internal and external advisory committees that are representative of the constituencies that IC and the International Institute serve.

The Director develops and implements policy relative to the goals of IC and the International Institute, contributes to the advancement of the overall mission of international education and strives to advance CSUSB reputation in the field of international education. The Director ensures the smooth operation of all activities and develops new programs to meet the needs of faculty, students, and the community.

Paul is the Assistant Director. He originally comes from Mexico and has been working with us for two years. He is responsible for advising and counseling international students for immigration matters. Paul is also one of the DSO officers on the campus responsible for issuing I-20 and IAP-66 forms. Implementation and maintenance of University, USCIS, and IRS regulations. Organize and conduct orientation, employment and tax workshops, special events for campus F-1 and J-1 visa holders.

Joanne is the Program Assistant responsible for managing the health insurance for International Students and coordinating the entire Orientation Program. She prepares correspondence regarding these programs. She is also in charge of the IC Office budget, facility lease agreements, food service contracts, physical plant set-ups, media services, bursars, etc.

James serves as an Information Technology Consultant. He originally comes from Taiwan and has been working with us for six years. James is responsible for network and software installation, web server administration, revising and updating the IC, PBD, II, and LAS website, providing consultative support and training to staff, as well as providing hardware and software troubleshooting.

Maco is the Programs Coordinator. He is responsible for assisting the Director in Coordinating the international Programs/Study Abroad. Coordinates the Study abroad Fair and assists in publicizing the CSUIP on campus. Maintains the Office's study abroad library. helps coordinate Offices'programs. Keeps and updates as necessary files and binders. Manage the front counter. Assists in the coordination of Phi Beta Delta, the honor society for international scholars. Supervises student assistants. Supervise mass mailings as necessary including the quarterly NEWSLETTER.

Elanor's duties are to support and assist Paul with the USCIS SEVIS tracking system, by keeping reports of students who are accepted and are issued I-20’s. In addition, prepare necessary documents and folders on all F-1 international students. Establish transfer status of students, via documentation, or direct contact with appropriate institutions. Advise students on reinstatement procedures when necessary. Assist in providing routine advice and counseling to all international students and respond to student petitions for USCIS paperwork; assist with all international student’s programs.
