Change of Status
Change of status is not as difficult as one might think, please write, call, FAX, or E-Mail
IC and a counselor will assist you.
|
|
|
Reinstatement
Some visa-students need a reinstatement of their F-1 or J-1 status for any number of reasons.
The most common reason includes exceeding the time limit listed on the IAP-66 or I-20 and
not registering for a full-time course of study.
IC has information and forms which should be submitted with several other documents when
petitioning for reinstatement.

Transfer Students
If you are a F-1 student transferring to CSUSB from another school in the U.S., do the
following within the first 15 days of your first quarter so that IC can officially transfer you to CSUSB:
- Report for Check-In at IC
- Have your valid passport and I-94.
- Have your I-20 issued by CSUSB
- Obtain Letter of Transfer from your previous school

Extension of Stay
International students are admitted to the U.S. for "duration of status," (D/S) that is, to
complete an educational program. The number of years is indicated on the initial Form I-20.
Extension of stay beyond the authorized period may be granted if you have legitimate academic
or medical reasons for the delay.
To apply for an extension of stay please submit:
- Documentation verifying reason for delay.
- I-20 student's ID Copy.
- Completed I-538 Form.

|
|
Optional Practical Training
International students can work for a period of one year in a field that is closely related to
your field of study, before and after graduation.
There are several documents needed to apply for Practical Training. Please consult an
advisor in the IC Office.

|
Visa Renewal
International students who have an expired visa are advised to renew their visa in their
home country.
Although it is possible for a student to renew it in a third country other than his/her own
country, the student may face more stringent requirements than in their home country.
Please Consult IC for proper documentation.
